COLOMBO (News 1st) - The United National Party's May Day rally was held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium today (May 6). Dignitaries including Ministers and MP's representing the United National Front were present at the UNP's May Day rally. Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe speaking at the rally stated that if the people scolded the Rajapaksas the way they scold him and the present government, all of them would be in the cemetery today and there would be no media. The Prime Minister also commented on the Samurdhi Fund and the Samurdhi Bank. He said 25 billion has been allocated for 12 months and that 13 billion has been spent in the first three months. Furthermore, PM Wickremesinghe stated that there is a Samurdhi Bank but no one looks after it, there are no regulations at all. He said all banks come under the control of the Central Bank except for this one. Therefore he said that he wishes to put Samurdhi Bank also under the purview of the Central Bank. Speaking at the rally, Minister Rajitha Senaratne, representing the United National Front noted that the Judicature Bill would be presented to parliament on the 9th of this month.
