Rock slide warning for motorists on Katugastota road

Colombo (News1st) - The Central hills of Sri Lanka has been battered by heavy rains for the past few days. As a result, the Katugastota main road is currently facing a risk of suffering from a rock slide in the Warathanna area.  The Katugastota Police has requested the general public people to remain vigilant when using the road. The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers exceeding around 100 mm in several districts of the Island today(May 7th). While heavy rains are causing dangerous situations the intense heat being experienced by the country at present has also posed a threat to the general public. The Health Promotion Burea has advised the general public to consume more water to avoid any health hazards. Its Director, Epidemiologist Dr Paba Palihawadana said this would help prevent the cause of dehydration.
