COLOMBO (News 1st) – Addressing the May Day rally of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in Batticaloa today (May 7), President Maithripala Sirisena said he will not retire in 2020.
According to President Sirisena, some people have asked him if he will retire in 2020 and it is widely spread on social media that he would retire in 2020. The Head of the State says that he will not be retiring in 2020 as there is a lot more to do.
Speaking at the rally President Sirisena said every politician should be honest and the people shouldn’t be deceived for the sake of power.
Furthermore, he stated that some politicians are trying to take over power without any program in place, so the Sri Lanka Freedom Party hopes to use the past experiences and initiate a new program for the sake of the people.
