COLOMBO (News 1st) – The 41st Annual Convention of the Capital Maharaja Organisation took place yesterday (April 27) evening at the Stein Studios in Ratmalana.
The highlight of the event was the selection of the Executive of the Year.
The nominees for this year were;
Joint Managing Director Sashi Rajamahendran and Group Director Pradeep Maharaja announced the winner, Channel Head of Yes FM Ramzi Cassim.
Ramzi Cassim in his acceptance speech said that he is earnestly grateful to the recognition he has received for his work. He stated that he is sure that everyone who was nominated for the award deserves to win the award as much as him.
“Winning this award would not have been possible without the inspiration of my seniors and my colleagues. I sincerely thank each and every one of you for helping me reach the state where I can proudly hold this award as a mark of my teams and my achievement.” – Ramzi Cassim
The theme for the convention this year was ACT to WIN. Many distinguished guests including members of the diplomatic community, politicians, professionals and over 1000 executives of the Maharaja Organization were part of the groups’ landmark event. Former President of the Maldives, Mohammad Nasheed was the chief guest at the occassion.
Group Director, Srilal Ahangama delivering the Chairman’s address stated that the company has to regroup, innovate, think afresh and take action to move forward and be prepared to enter the unknown. He stated that the company is investing heavily in newer areas and making a paradigm shift to strengthen our group

The Achiever’s Awards that recognize extraordinary performance and potential saw five winners being felicitated;
Speaking at the event Joint Managing Director of the Capital Maharajah Organization, Sashi Rajamahendran stated that the film Dharmayuddaya which was produced by MTV at stein studios, distributed by M Entertainment and promoted on Sirasa TV and TV One resulted in 210 Million Rupees at the Box Office.
In October this year Udumbaraa will be released, introducing Nadeeshani Henderson, a 200-meter athlete in a movie of a girl from a shanty town who aspires to be in the Olympics.
