COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Attorney General's Department informed court today (April 26), that the Red Notice issued on Arjuna Mahendran is in effect across 192 countries. The case filed at Fort Magistrate's Court by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is based on a complaint made by the present governor of the Central Bank over the Central Bank treasury bond scam. The beneficial owner of Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL)

Arjun Aloysius (Suspect No. 2)  and

the CEO of PTL Kasun Palisena (Suspect No. 3) were further remanded until the 10th of May

. Today (April 26) appearing on behalf the defence, President's Counsel Kalinga Indatissa, announced that Arjun Aloysius would represent suspect number three. However, the Magistrate questioned the representation noting Aloysius was not a shareholder in PTL and that he was not involved in the company operations. The Defence Counsel noted that Perpetual Capital Holdings is a shareholder of Perpetual Treasuries Limited and Arjun Aloysius represent those shares as Director of Perpetual Capital Holdings, therefore, he can represent the third suspect. The Magistrate granted a period of two weeks for the defense and prosecution to make their legal submissions on this matter. The Attorney General's Department appearing for the CID informed court on the progress made with regard to investigations on communication that had taken place between the suspects and certain others. The Attorney General's Department requested the court to issue an order to the Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department to provide documentation on PTL assets and finances for the investigations, however, an order on the matter would be made at the next hearing due to a confusion that arose with the legal provisions. The Fort Magistrate ordered a copy of the court report be submitted to the CID to facilitate the legal procedures in extraditing Arjuna Mahendran. The case was postponed to the 10th of May.
