Governor of the Western Province assumes duties

COLOMB (News 1st) - Hemakumara Nanayakkara assumed duties today (April 24) as the Governor of the Western Province. Several Ministers and MPs were present for the occasion. Speaking at the event, the Governor of the Western province stated that the position comes with many responsibilities as the western province is home to 1/3rd of the country's population and is home to the administrative and commercial capitals of the country. He added that he is privileged to be appointed the governor of a model province where two major political parties work together at the provincial council level. Born in Galle, Hemakumara Nanayakkara is a product of Richmond College Galle and Isipathana College.
