31 lives claimed by a suicide bomber in Kabul

Foreign media reports that a suicide bombing at a voter registration center in the Afghan capital Kabul has killed at least 31 people. According to officials, more than 50 were injured in the blast which hit a crowd waiting at the entrance to the building. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attack via its online news portal, Amaq. Voter registration began this month for legislative elections which are due to take place in October. Amaq reports state that a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt targeted the center, which is in the Dashte Barchi area of western Kabul. Among the victims were many women and children, witnesses said.
