COLOMBO (News 1st) - Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 92nd birthday today (April 21st), her 66th birthday since she ascended the throne in 1952. She ascended the throne in 1952 and since then has been the Head of the Commonwealth and the UK. She is the mother of Charles - Prince of Wales, Prince Edward - Earl of Wessex, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew - Duke of York. During her 66 year reign on the throne, the Queen had visited Sri Lanka twice, in 1954 and 1981.
