Houses damaged due to strong winds in Meerigama

COLOMBO (News 1^st) – Many houses were damaged due to strong winds that swept across Meerigama earlier today (April 17). According to our correspondent, about 20 houses in Meerigama, Wilwatta, Ambepussa, and Thawalampitiya were damaged along with buildings belonging to the Meerigama Pradeshiya Sabha. He added that officers of the Disaster Managment Centre have arrived in the area to assess the damage. The electricity supply to the area has also been disrupted.
