Careless driving leads to 26% rise of motor accidents

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The number of motor accidents reported during the festive season in comparison to figures from last year has seen a 26% increase. Negligent driving has caused many of the accidents according to  Pushpa Ramyani Zoysa,  the Chief Training Nursing Officer at the National Hospital. She added that injuries caused due to fireworks has reduced in comparison to previous years. According to police reports, seven individuals died and three others suffered injuries due to the motor accidents which occured over the last 24 hours.
