COLOMBO (News 1st) - Special transportation services have been put in place by authorities to avoid any inconveniences the general public may have to face when visiting friends and relatives for the new year. The special transportation service will be in effect tomorrow (April 15) as well. Chairman of National Transport Commission, M. A. P. Hemachandra, speaking to News 1st said buses will operate to all cities based on the passenger requirement. Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, P. H. R. T. Chandrasiri, said buses will be in operation at regional level as well for the convenience of passengers. A special train service has also been introduced for tomorrow (April 15). The special train with air-conditioned compartments will leave from Fort to Bandarawela at 7:20 p.m. Another train will operate from Matara to Maradana at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow (April 15), and another will operate at 2:55 p.m. tomorrow (April 15), from Maradana to Matara. A special train will operate at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (April 15), from Jaffna to Colombo. In addition, a special operation has been launched on the Southern Expressway targetting the festive weekend.
