Seven Myanmar soldiers were sentenced to prison for ten years for their involvement in the massacre of ten Rohingya persons in Rakhine State in September 2017. The army stated the soldiers were charged with the crime of "participating in murder" and found guilty. Reports from Myanmar confirm that the soldiers were sentenced to prison with hard labuor. Over 700,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh due to the ethnic violence that took place after the military launched a crackdown on the ethnic minority. The Myanmar army has been accused of many crimes including committing murder and rape.
