Colombo (News 1st) - The Central Committee meeting of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is scheduled to take place today (April 9) at the official residence of the President. The General Secretary of the SLFP, Minister Duminda Dissanayake stated the meeting headed by President Sirisena will begin at 7 pm tonight. The current political situation and the actions that need to be taken in future are on the discussion table for today's meeting. On 4th April, sixteen members of SLFP voted in favor of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and later handed their letters of resignation from ministerial positions.to resign from ministerial portfolios. Minister Chandima Weerakkody stated, the 16 members including himself expect to obtain approval to resign from the positions they currently hold during the SLFP Central Committee meeting. He further noted that SLFP should be subjected to a comprehensive reform process and the individuals who hold the positions of the party should be shuffled.
