UNP loses control of Seethawaka UC after 39 years

COLOMBO (News 1st) - After a period of 39 long years, the United National Party lost control of the Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha. At the inaugural sitting of the Seethawaka Urban Council, a vote was held to select the chairman.K. A. Ranaweera of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was appointed chairman with a total of 11 votes. UNP Members, Lal Pinto and Sudarshana Gunaratne received 5 votes each. After the event, newly appointed K. A. Ranaweera expressed his gratitude to his fellow councilors and the people of the Awissawella Municipality.
