Minister of agriculture Duminda Dissanayake has promised to provide fertiliser to farmers who cultivate paddy as well as other crops at a concessionary rate with effect from midnight tonight.
Accordingly, Paddy Farmers will be able to purchase the fertliser at a cost of Rs 500 while farmers who grow other crops will have to pay Rs 1500 for the fertiliser.
Minister Dissanayake addressing a media briefing in Colombo today said that the distribution of fertiliser will take place through the Agrarian Development Centers.
Earlier Minister Duminda Dissanayake implemented a program to issue money to farmers instead of fertiliser. However, the program was criticised by civil society organizations
