The Central District Court in Seoul found former South Korean President Park Geun-Hye guilty of several charges including of abuse of power and bribery. She was sentenced to 24  years in Prison. The 66-year-old ex-leader of South Korea was found guilty of 16 of the 18 charges she faced. The prosecutors of the case requested a prison sentence of 30 years. Delivering the conviction the judge said,"The President abused the power which was given to her by the citizens". The judgment was broadcast live for the first time in South Korea following a law which was passed and enabled in 2017. Park and her lawyers refused to come to court due to the court's decision to broadcast the judgment. The lawyers of the former President expects to file an appeal on the decision.
