Committee to be appointed to look into glyphosate ban

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Minister of Agriculture, Duminda Dissanayake stated that the cabinet has decided to appoint a committee of intellectuals to look into the ban imposed on glyphosate. The committee will be comprised of members of the Agrarian Organization and Ministry Officials. It will be convened before the President and will be ves*-ted with responsibilities. The committee will make their decision after considering the present situation and facts that have been collected so far. The respective members are to be appointed shortly with Venerable Rathna Thero including names he wishes to be on the committee. When the Minister was questioned on whether the decision was taken in fear of Venerable Rathna Thero he stated that there is no fear and that he is not a person to be feared. Further, he stated that they do not fear monks but always respect them.
