Two arrested for stealing 7,000 kilograms of iron

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two people including a Chinese national have been arrested for stealing iron from the Matara-Hambantota expressway construction site. The arrests were made by a group of officers of the Sooriyawewa Police Special Task Force, during an operation carried out in the Welivitiya area. The suspects were found to have 7,000 kilograms of iron. Police Special Task Force has seized the lorry that was used for transportation along with the stock of iron. The suspects have been handed over to the Sooriyawewa police for further investigation.
