Local Government member appointments further delayed

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Elections Commission stated that the appointment of the chairmen and the deputy chairmen for local government bodies will be further delayed. Sources from the Elections Commission confirm that political parties are yet to submit lists of nominees for 59 local government bodies. 57 out of these 59 local government bodies have been won by the Podujana Peramuna, the Election Commision further added. The Election Commision will send notices to all party leaders requesting them to submit the nominations for the posts of Chairmen and the deputy chairmen immediately.
