State of Emergency lifted with immediate effect

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Austin Fernando, the  President's Secretary confirmed that the State of Emergency has been lifted. Following an enquiry made by the News 1^st, the President's Secretary stated that President Siriserna has lifted the of State of Emergency with immediate effect. Upon his arrival from the state visit of Japan, the President signed the gazette notification to lift the State of Emergency he added. The State of Emergency was imposed on March 6th following the anti-muslim riots erupted in Kandy area. Due to the unrest, the government announced a ten-day nationwide state of emergency and a temporary ban on social media access across the country.
