President Maithripala Sirisena to meet Premier Shinzō Abe

COLOMBO (News1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena who is currently on an official visit to Japan is scheduled to have bilateral discussions with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzō Abe, today at the Prime Minister's office in Tokyo. The president, yesterday, met with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko. President Maithripala Sirisena and First Lady Jayanthi Sirisena were given a warm welcome by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko when they arrived at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. During discussions to enhance the long-standing ties between the countries, the Emperor recalled the memories of his visit to Sri Lanka is 1981. He said he was privileged for the opportunity to visit the historical temple of the sacred tooth relic in Kandy. President Sirisena also met with the Chief Incumbents of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temples in Japan.
