Rapper Craig Mack dies at age 46 due to a heart failure at a hospital in Walterboro, South Carolina.
Producer Alvin Toney confirmed the devastating news as he insisted: ‘He was prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord. He was prepared to do that. He wasn’t scared. He was ready.’
The Nineties hip-hop star was part of Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment and was behind The Notorious B.I.G’s breakout performance on his single Flava in Ya Ear.
Born in Queens in 1971, Mack left his native New York for the South and moved to South Carolina with his family.
Mack’s debut album Project: Funk da World was released on Puff Daddy’s record label and reached number 21 on the US charts.
His second album Operation: Get Down failed to live up to the same success and peaked at number 46 in 1997.
In 1995 Mack won a Grammy Award for his song ‘Flava in Yar Ear’ as the Best Rap Solo Performance of the year.
