COLOMBO (News 1st) – Sri Lanka Police convened a media briefing today (March 13) to elaborate on action taken regarding the incidents reported from Kandy.
According to Police Media Spokesperson, ASP Ruwan Gunasekara, a total of 280 suspects were arrested for committing criminal offenses.
Further, he stated that they arrested 10 people in the 7th of March for instigating communal disharmony and for promoting hate and violence.
Arrested 10 suspects are as follows;
“The Terrorist Investigation Division is conducting the investigations on them. Early this morning an office of the Chief Suspect was inspected. It is located in Nattarampotha, Kundasale.” – ASP Ruwan Gunasekara
ASP Gunasekara stated that officers discovered hundreds of thousands of documents which contained material to promote disharmony and violence and that they were to be distributed by them.
Furthermore, he said that among the other documents were cash receipts for money that was given to them and a microphone with a logo prepared to convene media briefings.
“Based on the statement given by the Chief Suspect, Detectives were able to locate bottles suspected to be petrol bombs allegedly being prepared to commit criminal offenses. They discovered 07 such bottles,” said ASP Ruwan Gunasekara.
