Five dead in Nilaveli due to boat capsized

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - A boat capsized in the Periyakulam Wewa in the Nilaweli area in Trincomalee killing one adult and four children. Three families who had arrived near the Periyakulam Wewa for a pooja today (March 11) morning were the victims of the accident. The victims had set off into the wewa to pluck lotus leaves. 42-year-old Dharmalingam Sanghadurai was killed in the incident, along with his nine-year-old daughter. Dharmalingam was a bus driver by profession. Two brothers, from another family nine-year-old Suresh Kesiraj and seven-year-old Suresh Udeshan, were also killed in the accident.
