Bangladesh cruises towards victory with a stunning run chase

COLOMBO (News 1st) -Bangladesh stunned Sri Lanka with a massive run chase to end up victorious by five wickets in the 3rd match played in the Nidahas Trophy Tri-Nation tournament at R. Premadasa Stadium. Winning the toss Bangladesh opted to bowl first. The Sri Lankan batsmen, both Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis were off to a flying start adding 56 runs on the scoreboard for the first wicket. Gunathilaka scored 26 runs while Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera recorded impressive half-centuries to bring up the Sri Lankan total to 214 in their 20 overs. Chasing a target of 215,  in their 20 overs,  Bangladesh easily crossed over with 2 deliveries spared, only by losing 5 wickets to the home players. Mushfiqur Rahim made a brilliant knock of 72 runs in just 35 deliveries including four sixes and five boundaries. Tamim Iqbal contributed to the run chase with 47 runs while Soumya Sarkar kept up the momentum with his 24 runs. Mustafizur Rahman (3/48) and Mahmudullah (2/15) were the two leading bowlers in the Bangladeshi team. Nuwan Pradeep, in his four overs, took two Bangladeshi wickets for an expensive 37 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim was awarded the Man of the Match for his superb knock of 72 runs.
