COLOMBO (News 1st)- The department of meteorology forecasts that heavy rainfall (about 100 mm) can be expected at some places in the country today (9th March). Particularly, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts will experience heavy showers, the meteorology department predicts.
During the thundershowers, strong winds are also expected (up to 40-45 kmph) especially in the northern half of the island. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damages that could be caused by the lightning activities.
