COLOMBO (News 1st) - Ranjith Maddumabandara took oaths as the new Minister of Law and Order before President Maithripala Sirisena at the secretariat this morning. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Secretary to the President Austin Fernando were seen at the occasion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBKM7AkjSqE The newly appointed Minister of Law and Order, Ranjith Maddumabandara, is a member of parliament representing the national list of the United National Party from the Monaragala District. Ranjith Maddumabandara began his political career serving as the Chairman of the Monaragala District Development Council in 1981. Later he held the ministerial positions of agriculture, irrigation, sports and youth affairs in the Uva Provincial Council. Maddumabandara first entered parliament in 1989. In addition to being the Minister of Law and Order, he acts as the Minister of Public Administration and Management. Ranjith Maddumabandara served as the State Minister of Tourism Development from 2001 to 2003. Further, he served as the Minister of Internal Transportation from January 2015 to September 2015.
