The proposed no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister was raised during a media briefing convened by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna today (March 5) Prof. G.L. Peiris, Chairman of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, stated that according to his knowledge such a motion is prepared and that there is no doubt about it. Further, he stated that the doubt lies with the Sri Lankan Freedom Party and no one else and that the MP's and Ministers are involved in this. According to Prof. Peiris, there is no doubt whatsoever on the stance of the MP's representing the Joint Opposition. The Joint Opposition has decided to extend their fullest support to a no-confidence motion against the honourable Prime Minister.

Finally, Prof. Peiris stated that there are three means by which the Prime Minister and the Cabinet can be dissolved. One is the no-confidence motion, second is the defeat of the budget and third is for parliament to reject the government's policy statement. https://www.facebook.com/NewsfirstSL/videos/1864482603611989/
