COLOMBO (News 1st) – The remains of the Late Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero are currently laying at the Sri Sambodhi Viharaya in Colombo.
Chief Incumbent of the Sri Sambodhi Viharaya in Colombo Shasthravedi Panditha Venerable Darangama Kusaladhamma Thero passed away early yesterday (March 3) morning.
The remains of the Thero were brought to a private funeral parlour in Colombo last night.
Paying last respects to Kusaladhamma Thero Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abhayathissa Thero stated that many devotees not only from Sri Lanka but also from many parts of the world were able to follow the dhamma, especially through The Buddhist channel.
“He served greatly to the philosophy and the country. I think the service rendered by Kusaladhamma Thero in communicating the dhamma to the devotees was not done by anyone else in the recent past.” –

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo paying his last respects stated that the Thero respected those who believed in other religions and that Kusaladhamma Thero was enriched with Sri Lankan heritage.
“ We will join him in his aspiration of protecting Buddhism, the common sentiment in the country. may he attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana.” – His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith
The finals rights of Late Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero is scheduled to take place on Thursday (March 8) at the independence square with full state honours.
