Mastermind behind the murder of Lasantha Wickrematunge revealed in courts

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate, Mohammed Mihayil, for the second time rejected the bail application filed by Former DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara, who is in remand custody over the Lasantha Wickrematunge homicide. The CID informed court that Prasanna Nanayakkara, the third suspect in the homicide had in fact acted as the mastermind of the murder. The CID also informed court that following the assassination of Wickrematunge, his notebook was recovered by police and Prasanna Nanayakkara has instructed to dispose the notebook and several notes included in it. The CID objected to granting bail to the suspect citing it would hinder the investigations. President's Counsel Anil de Silva who appeared on behalf of the suspect, informed court based on the reports of the doctors from the Police Hospital that it claims his client has various illnesses. The CID informed court, the suspect is being treated by the prison for his illnesses. The case was postponed to March 15.
