Former Russian ambassador hiding in Dubai

COLOMBO (News 1^st)- The police sources say that former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga is currently in Dubai. Sources confirmed that discussions were held recently with the United Arab Emirates on steps that could be taken to bring him back to Sri Lanka. According to the reports UAE has informed Sri Lanka, that they would make necessary arrangements on the matter according to their laws. The CID has appointed a special team to carry out investigations on Udayanga Weeratunga. Udayanga Weeratunga who is on the run has been named as a wanted fugitive and is being hunted by Sri Lankan authorities, the United Arab Emirates as well as the Interpol.
