COLOMBO News 1st: State Minister of Foreign Affairs Wasantha Senanayake has commented on the statement made by Min. Range Bandara and shared his views on the current political situation in the country.
“We are not saying that we are at that place yet we are simply saying do not push us there. There were plenty of people who fought to create a change in the party and then just left the party,” says Min. Senanayake.
According to Minister Senanayake under the people who fought to create the party and let it go are,
Minister Senanayake also said that, sometimes, around 20-30 people leave the UNP at once “because they cannot make a change”.
The Minister added that though Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe expect UNPers to leave, they will instead remain in the party and continue the fight.
“It is because of him that people left this party. If he (Ranil Wickremesinghe) leave tomorrow, everyone who left will rejoin.” – Minister Wasantha Senanayake.
