Over 2500 arrests made in Special Saturday operation (VIDEO)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police have arrested 2564 people, allegedly connected to various crimes and wrong-doings, during a   special operation  conducted on Saturday, February 24. The operation lasted for a period of four hours. According to Police Headquarters, among them are 720 people with warrants against them. Furthermore, 504 drunk drivers were arrested along with four people who illegally possessed firearms. Seven hundred and forty one (741) people connected to various crimes were arrested during this operation. In addition, another 534 people were arrested for the possession of Heroin and other narcotics.The operation, carried out on the instructions of the IGP,  was aimed at minimising crime and accidents.
