Kahagolla Explosion: Five-member committee to be appointed

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Army Commander has appointed a special committee to investigate the hand grenade explosion that took place on a private bus in Kahagolla, Diyathalawa. The committee is to consist of five members and will be headed by Major General, Rukmal Dias. Military Spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu stated that the Army Commander has instructed the committee to submit a full report on the incident. According to Police Headquarters, the Government Analyst confirmed yesterday that the explosion was triggered by a hand grenade. A senior police official stated that two witnesses testified that the grenade exploded when an individual seated in the middle of a three-seat row stood up. The investigations also further reveal that the individual seated in the middle was an army officer. The officer in question is currently receiving treatment.
