COLOMBO (News 1st) – According to parliament, the Bond and PRECIFAC reports could be debated again between March 20 and 23.
A senior member stated that the dates will be finalised following discussions with party leaders.
The Bond and PRECIFAC report debates that were supposed to be held on the 21st of this month were later on postponed.
However, the debate was then postponed due to the non-availability of a Tamil translation of the reports.
When News1st inquired about the matter, a senior member of Parliament stated that there are no barriers for them to continue with the Bond debate as there is an English translation of the Bond report.
But the PRECIFAC report has not yet been translated into English or Tamil.
News 1st spoke to President’s Secretary, Austin Fernando about the delay of the translations. He stated that the report has been submitted to the Department of Official Languages.
Furthermore, he stated that the Department has been given instructions to speed up the process.
