COLOMBO (News1st): The case filed against MP Namal Rajapaksa, was taken up at the Colombo High Court.The hearing was presided over by Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Abeykoon. The case was filed by the Attorney General against MP Namal Rajapaksa, over eleven charges including the alleged misappropriation of 30 million rupees, from a deal which was struck between Gowers Corporate Services (PVT) Ltd. owned the parliamentarian and another private company. Four respondents, including MP Namal Rajapaksa,  appeared before court, for the hearing. Chairman of Boston Capital Ltd, Rohan Abeyriyagolla, who appeared before court as the first witness of the case, said when the company he represents was planning to launch a windmill project, the company which was owned by Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa failed to provide them with the advisory service, even though a sum of 300,000 rupees was paid for the service. The witness further noted that a cheque worth 30 million rupees was provided by the Director of the Gowers Services Pvt. Ltd Attorney-at-Law Indika Karunajeewa, in 2013, stating that the money should be credited to the company account as the service charge for the windmill Electricity project. In addition to the 30 million rupees, a sum of 300,000 rupees has also been transacted to the account of the company owned by MP Namal Rajapaksa.
