Developing Story: Will the SLFP break away from the National Government

Reports are coming in that Prime Minster Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya entered the President's official residence a short while ago. According to News 1st's political sources, Sri Lanka's current political situation is due to be discussed during this meeting. Meanwhile all Parliamentarians of the United National Party have been summoned to Temple Trees tonight (February 18).

UPDATE (10.30 pm, February 18)

Political sources told News 1st that Min. Dayasiri Jayasekara arrived at the President's official residence during the meeting. According to the sources, the Minister had informed President that the SLFP had secured a 114 majority in Parliament. Later, more reports emerged that the SLFP is splitting away from the National Government. However, official & trusted sources confirmed to News 1st that the SLFP has not taken such a decision. The official source stated that a decision will be taken tomorrow following a Parliamentary Meeting.
