State Minister Palitha Range Bandara has tendered his letter of resignation from the post of UNP organiser of Anamaduwa. Range Bandara handed over the letter to UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim earlier today (February 18).

The reason

He had expressed his concern, saying the election victory that was gained in Anamaduwa through many sacrifices, has been disregarded and ignored by the UNP. According to the State Minister, he will continue to work towards serving the people of Anamaduwa, even though there is no appreciation or support from his own party. In a letter to the media titled "My letter to the people forgotten by our leaders" he states that he looks forward to enjoying the rest of his life in peace. He notes that he has no need to cling onto positions, adding that senior members of his own party plotted to assassinate him while he was working on behalf of the general party. After a considerable amount of thought, the State Minster says that he decided to hand in his letter of resignation from the post of organizer for the Anamaduwa electorate. He notes that while doing so, he saw the pain in the eyes of Kabir Hashim and Ranjith Maddumabandara. The letter concludes by stating that even though this letter of resignation may be rejected, each passing moment is very valuable.
