15.7 million, 60,862 eligible voters cast their ballot today at 13,374 polling stations established across the country.District Returning Officers claim the voter turnout for the polls was over 70 percent. Voters exercised their franchise for 07 Municipal Councils, 14 Urban Councils and 28 Pradeshiya Sabhas  located within the Western Province. In the North Western Province voters cast their ballot to elect members for 01 Municipal Council, 03 Urban Councils and 29 Pradeshiya Sabhas located in the districts of Kurunegala and Puttalam. Voters from the Nuwara Eliya, Matale and Kandy District cast their vote to elect members for 04 Municipal Councils, 06 Urban Councils and 37 Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Central Province. Voting in the districts of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa were peaceful today. Votes were cast to elect members for 02 Municipal Councils, 01 Urban Council and 24 Pradeshiya Sabhas in the North Central Province. Voters from Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Mannar, Jaffna and Kilinochchi in the Nothern Province exercised their franchise to elect members for 01 Municipal Council, 05 Urban Councils and 28 Pradeshiya Sabhas. Voting took place in the Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara Districts in the Eastern Province to elect members for 05 Municipal Councils, 03 Urban Councils and 37 Pradeshiya Sabhas. Voters exercised their franchise to elect representatives for 03 Municipal Councils, 04 Urban Councils and 42 Pradeshiya Sabhas from the Galle, Matara and Hambantota Districts in the Southern Province. Voters cast their ballot to elect members for 01 Municipal Council , 03 Urban Counils and 25 Pradeshiya Sabhas located in the Sabaragamuwa Province. Voters exercised their franchise to elect representatives for 02 Municipal Councils, 01 Urban Council and 25 Pradeshiya Sabhas located in the districts of Badulla and Moneragala of the Uva Province.
