Police teams assigned as polls near

Inspector General of Police, Pujith Jayasundara stated that all measures have been taken to carry out the local government election in a peaceful manner. News 1st made inquiries from the  IGP in this regard. He stated that all the complaints lodged with regard to the election have been examined. He added that special police teams have been assigned to certain areas. IGP Jayasundara noted that a specific set of guidelines for election duties will be issued for police officials today (February 9). Meanwhile, according to the Police Media Spokesperson, SP Ruwan Gunasekara, security services with regard to the election began a short while ago, adding that police officials have been dispatched to relevant areas. He further stated that more than 100 mobile vehicles are also on duty in several areas.
