Parliament debate on the Bond report is happening earlier than planned

Parliament is convening on February 6 to debate the Bond commission report.

The Prime Minister has sent a letter to Speaker with regard to convening the Parliament on that day, Deputy Secretary of Parliament Neil Iddawela told News 1st.

Previously the Parliament was set to convene after the Local Government Election which is on February 10.

However, following a challenge made by the president to debate the report prior to the election, the date was shifted to the 8th of February.

Then there were issues with the Parliament convening so close to the Local Government Election, thus prompting this decision.
