Few days ago, President Maithripala Sirisena made a challenge to the “the corrupt elite”.
This challenge was to hold the Parliamentary debate on the Bond report prior to the upcoming Local Government Election.
Responding to this challenge, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced yesterday (January 27) and again today (January 28) that as per the powers vested in him, the Parliament can be summoned on February 8.
Thereby, the Bond report will be debated in Parliament on the 8th and 9th of February.
President Sirisena expressed his pleasure over the decision during a public rally in Badulla today.
Watch the video below for the statement of President and PM Wickremesinghe.
