A fire had erupted in a forest reserve located in the Pitadeniya mountains in Medagama, Bibile. Police said, the fire which erupted last night was doused by officers of the Disaster Management Centre with the assistance of residents.

Ten acres of land were destroyed by the inferno. Investigations are underway in search of the suspects behind the arson.
