MP Ravi Karunanayake was denied from making a special statement in Parliament today (January 24).
The speaker denied Karunanayake saying he cannot raise a privilege question “as it does not relate to a privilege issue”.
Karunanayake has retaliated saying if he is not allowed to make a statement, he would make a public statement outside of Parliament.
The MP’s Media Officer then handed over a copy of the MP’s statement to the Journalists present in Parliament.
In the statement, MP Karunanayake had noted there is no evidence to show he was involved in malpractices in the purchase and sale of bonds with Primary Dealers in the bond market.
