A stock of 928 kilos of Cocaine, taken into custody by the Police Narcotics Bureau is destroyed today (Jan 15) at the Katunayake Investment Zone under the supervision of the Fort Magistrate.

President Mathripala Sirisena will be present at the event together with Law and Order and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayake and others.

The liquid cocaine taken into custody will be destroyed in Puttalam today (January 15).

Police stated that steps have been taken to liquidize the stock of Cocaine. The liquefied Cocaine will then discarded.

The Police Narcotics Bureau nabbed a container at the Colombo harbor on the 9th of December 2016.

The container which had a stock of cocaine sealed in it was seized thereafter.

The container ship in question which set sail from Ecuador was set to arrive at the Mundra harbor in India via Belgium.

Following a raid carried out by the Police Anti Narcotics Bureau the container which consisted of cocaine worth 162 million rupees was seized.
