A top Peruvian fire official, Lewis Mejia, stated that the 48 persons were killed and six others hospitalised , when a bus went over the cliff in North of Lima yesterday, January 2.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the bodies were found in the bus, the Pacific Ocean and on the rocky beach.
Peru transport chief Dino Escuderos stated that the accident had occurred when a tractor-trailer collided with the bus. He further stated that the back of the bus was hit by the truck, which caused the bus to fall off a cliff.
A tweet published from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said that the preliminary investigation indicated GPS showed that both vehicles were going too fast.
