Landslide threats have been issued to the Alawathugara village in Kundasale.
According to the Secretary of the Kundasale Divisional Secretariat, 16 out of 70 families living in the area were requested to evacuate from the areas prone to landslides. Residents claim that they have not been informed of an alternative place to move to.
When News 1st inquired regarding the matter, the Secretary of Kundasale Divisional Secretariat stated that 25 acres has been obtained from Ahaspokuna area in Gonavala, Kundasale to accommodate these people.
Furthermore, she stated that immediately after the measurements are completed, the lands will be given to them. In the meantime, she urges the villagers to find temporary places away from immediate danger.
