A decision has been taken to evacuate unauthorised occupants in the premises of the Kandy Teaching Hospital. This move has been initiated due to “difficulties faced in the hospital development project.”

It was recently revealed that around 40 acres of land belonging to the hospital was occupied by unauthorised personnel.

According to the Health Ministry, 18 acres of land was already claimed ,for the hospital development purposes, and that the remaining 21 acres are yet to be reclaimed.

Health Minister, Rajitha Senaratna had ordered that the encroached land to be claimed back. Steps have already been taken to construct a new ward complex with all medical facilities.
