Showers are expected this afternoon  with temperatures expected to rise to 31 degrees Celsius.

Thundershowers are predicted over the Galle District, with temperatures set to hover around 24 and 30 degrees Celsius. The Department of Meteorology predicts showers over most parts of the island today (Dec. 21), as a result of the atmospheric disturbance in the seas.

Heavy falls of about 75 mm are forecast over the Eastern, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva Provinces and in Kalutara District. Gusty winds of about 50 kmph can be expected in North Central and Central Provinces, and the Hambantota, Monaragala and Matara Districts.
