The Central Environment Authority, through a special raid, has identified seven institutions that produce polythene products exceeding the regulations.

Central Environment Authority Director of Waste Management Ajith Weerasundara said that raids were being carried out to charge companies that produced polythene products against the regulations issued by the government on December 4.

The government recently banned the use of lunch sheets, shopping bags, and plastic lunch box in a special gazette notification.Director Ajith Weerasundara said that polythene products were being raided in the first stage of the programme.
